Course Overview

The Ummeed Inclusion Fellowship Program (UIFP) is an immersive two-year experience during which “School Inclusion Fellows” are selected from a pool of applicants, trained and placed in different under-resourced schools (currently Mumbai) – dedicated to creating school ecosystems where all children, including children with disabilities, can thrive and not just survive.

Through intensive in-person (at Ummeed) and onsite (in school) training and mentorship, the Fellows work to support all stakeholders (teachers, parents, students, and school leadership) in the school in committing to and developing inclusive school systems. Fellows do this through:
Training and support for teachers to understand (and undertake) inclusive learning
Sensitization and mental health support to teachers, students and parents
Socio-emotional learning sessions for students and capacity building of teachers to deliver socio-emotional learning
Objectives:

The eventual objective of the UIFP is to build a cadre of “Inclusion Champions” who will get an opportunity to understand the grassroots realities of India’s education system in the context of inclusion. They will strive to create an ecosystem of inclusive spaces in mainstream education.
